MRB Group Helps Communities Secure More Than $66 Million in Grant Funding in 2026

October 28, 2026

MRB Group is proud to announce that its Grant Services Department has helped communities secure $66,422,711 in grant funding to date in 2026, supporting investments in essential infrastructure, public services, and community facilities.

The milestone follows the recent announcement of New York State’s Water Infrastructure Improvement (WIIA) grant awards, which included more than $20.5 million for four municipal projects supported by MRB Group. These awards represent an important step toward improving water and wastewater infrastructure while reducing the financial burden on local taxpayers.

“Securing grant funding can make the difference between a project remaining on a community’s wish list and becoming a reality,” said Ryan Colvin, P.E., President and CEO of MRB Group. “We’re incredibly proud of the communities we serve and the work our Grant Services team does to help them pursue these opportunities. These awards represent meaningful investments in infrastructure, public health, and the long-term future of our communities.”

Recent Water Infrastructure Awards

As part of New York State’s latest WIIA funding announcement, MRB Group assisted four communities in securing funding for critical infrastructure projects:

  • Town of Tyre: $784,000 for Water District No. 3.
  • Village of Avon: $9,875,750 for Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements. The Village received an Enhanced WIIA award, providing a significantly greater level of funding than a standard award.
  • Town of Fayette: $4,914,469 for Water District No. 8, Phase 2.
  • Town of Gorham: $5,000,000 for Water System Improvements.

In addition, the Town of Locke received $3,995,298 in funding through the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) for its water project.

Together, these five awards represent $24,569,517 in funding to support water and wastewater infrastructure improvements.

These investments will help municipalities address infrastructure needs, improve the reliability of essential services, and advance projects that might otherwise place significant financial pressure on local governments and residents.

Supporting Communities Beyond Water Infrastructure

MRB Group’s grant funding success extends beyond water and wastewater systems. The firm’s Grant Services Department has also helped secure several other notable awards supporting public safety, community facilities, and infrastructure improvements.

Recent awards include:

  • Village of Trumansburg: $1,000,000 through the Local Government Efficiency (LGE) program for a new Emergency Medical Services (EMS) building.
  • Town of Sennett: $1,000,000 through the Northern Border Regional Commission (NBRC) Public Infrastructure program for Water District No. 8.
  • Town of Varick: $1,000,000 through the NBRC Public Infrastructure program for the Cayuga Lake Sewer District.
  • Waterloo Library & Historical Society: $370,000 related to improvements to its facility.

These projects reflect the wide range of needs facing municipalities and community organizations, from maintaining essential infrastructure to investing in facilities that serve residents for generations.

A Dedicated Team Helping Communities Move Forward

MRB Group’s Grant Services Department works closely with municipalities and organizations to identify funding opportunities, develop competitive applications, and navigate the complexities of grant programs.

Through grant research, writing, and administration, the team helps communities pursue funding that aligns with their priorities and long-term goals. Working collaboratively with MRB Group’s engineering, architecture, planning, and municipal services professionals, the department brings together technical expertise and grant funding knowledge to support successful outcomes.

“Our Grant Services team understands the challenges municipalities face when balancing necessary improvements with limited budgets,” Colvin added. “Their dedication, combined with the relationships we’ve built with our municipal partners, helps communities access funding that can turn important plans into achievable projects. Reaching more than $66 million in funding this year is a tremendous accomplishment, and I’m extremely proud of the team behind that success.”

As communities continue to face aging infrastructure, rising project costs, and increasing demands on local resources, securing outside funding remains a critical component of responsible long-term planning.

MRB Group remains committed to partnering with municipalities and organizations to identify opportunities, overcome funding challenges, and advance projects that strengthen the communities they serve.
