Named to Rochester’s 2020 Top 100 List of businesses in the region, MRB Group’s rapid growth pattern continues with two new additions to the firm’s staff in Rochester.   President Ryan T. Colvin, PE, announced that Sherman Gittens and Jacob Calabrese, both graduates of Rochester Institute of Technology, have joined the MRB Group team.

“Once again, RIT proves to be a reliable resource for highly qualified candidates,” said Colvin.  “We are continually impressed with the high-caliber, skilled and talented personnel we have acquired as a result of RIT’s Civil Engineering program.

“Sherman and Jacob will support our multi-disciplined teams and help us meet our clients’ needs as MRB Group continues to grow,” Colvin stated.

Gittens and Calabrese have been assigned the rank of Civil Engineer I.  Colvin is confident that each possesses a personal drive to achieve professional growth that is right in step with the firm’s progressive expansion.

Gittens received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering Technology in 2020.  His coursework included water and wastewater design, structural analysis, hydraulics, and transportation engineering, in addition to the wide range of engineering and technical training he received.  His educational program also included serving the Town of Brighton as a Civil Engineer Co-op, where he performed a variety of duties and gained hands-on experience in day-to-day local government operations.

Calabrese graduated in 2015, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering Technology.  He completed his cooperative service in the Town of Pittsford, where he performed inspections of stormwater facilities.  He has been working in airport design and construction, focusing on projects involving runways, taxiways and aprons, and gaining site supervision and construction observation skills for the past five years.  He anticipates achieving his licensure as a Professional Engineer later in 2021.

“We look forward to seeing what both of these outstanding RIT graduates can achieve, as part of the growing MRB Group team,” Colvin said.  “We are getting stronger – and that’s good news to our clients,” he stated.

“As we add new skill sets and expertise to the team, the communities we serve will be able to take advantage of additional services they can access on-demand.  This often dramatically lowers the cost of those services, and generates a level of efficiency in service delivery for our clients,” he explained.

“We do what it takes to support our community leaders and help them serve their residents to the best of their abilities,” Colvin stated.  “Sherman and Jacob are excellent additions to the MRB Group team,” he concluded.

An engineering and architecture firm that specializes in municipal services, MRB Group has worked with communities since 1927.  The firm’s team has grown steadily, expanding to more than 125 in 2021.  MRB Group provides a full range of engineering, architecture, and municipal services to support and strengthen local governments.  The firm currently serves 150 cities, towns, villages, and counties assisting with long term strategic planning, development reviews and planning board support, and economic development services.  MRB Group routinely assists with a variety of public works functions, provides architecture for rehabilitation of public facilities, and works closely with municipal leaders and staff to preserve and maintain critical community infrastructure, like water and wastewater systems.
