Webster Highway Garage
MRB Group was retained by the Town of Webster to provide full design and construction administration services for the new highway facility located at the Town’s existing highway
campus.
The new highway facility is a pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) and was programmed to accommodate a 30-vehicle main parking garage, a welding shop, a wash bay and a
four-vehicle maintenance garage with multiple cranes and lifts. The facility also included administration space for staff offices, a conference room, a large break/training room,
and staff locker area. MRB was involved in the early stages of programming the building through design and construction and the project came in on budget.
Intricate phasing and site planning allowed for the new building to be constructed on-site while the existing building and campus facilities remained fully operational. After
completion of the highway garage facility, a newly designed salt storage facility will be constructed along with the demolition of the existing highway garage. Related site work
included site clearing, new stone, asphalt, stormwater management, security gates, and finish grading. Additionally, significant site work and utility coordination was needed to
reroute underground pathways to the 2 on-site utility towers.
New fire protection systems were added as an alternate to an existing cold storage building on site. Bid alternates like this are regularly included in projects to help reduce
the scope if construction bids exceed expectations.
