The Wallace Library at RIT
Seamlessly connected to the maker activity of the SHED on each floor, the renovated Wallace Library reimagines the academic library as a place for engaged learning, content creation, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The renovation was designed to open up the existing spaces to allow natural light into most spaces.
A variety of small active classroom spaces for 36-60 students are provided, along with supplemental student spaces to continue the learning and collaboration process outside of class.
Spaces are designed to support diverse student and faculty interactions from individual seating and study areas to group tables for 6-8 and 2-3 person cafe tables. Library stacks and circulation are on the first and second floors of the building.
The building is also home to the RIT Archives, the RIT Press, and the Cary Collection, allowing access to a wide array of artwork and sculpture.
