Regional Water Storage Project
Facing the challenges of aging infrastructure and growing demands for drinking water, several Wayne County communities joined together in a shared approach with the Wayne County Water and Sewer Authority (WCWSA). Rather than make investments in multiple costly storage facilities, the Authority facilitated an Inter-municipal Agreement with six Wayne County Towns to build a regional storage tank and supporting transmission and pumping infrastructure. The combined network of water systems will serve approximately 23,000 residents, representing an estimated 25% of the county’s population.
MRB Group completed an engineering study and report, including extensive water system modeling, system analysis, and alternative assessment to assist the WCWSA in developing a regional storage alternative. MRB Group also provided design, bidding and construction administration services, as applicable for the various capital improvements.
The new storage tank, pumping, and transmission infrastructure are constructed and in service. Master meter stations and pressure control valves are anticipated to be completed in 2024.
