Mendon Public Library
When HBT Architects, a Division of MRB Group, was hired, the Town of Mendon and the Mendon Library had been working towards creating a new library for over ten years. With a successful bond vote and the receipt of a NYS Library Construction Grant in 2008, the plan took a dramatic leap forward.
The historic farms and mill buildings of the Town of Mendon and the Village of Honeoye Falls shaped the exterior design of the new building. The interior spaces reflect the library director’s goal of providing high-quality programming and services to users in a warm and friendly environment. This project received approval from the NY State Office of Historic Preservation.
Big Idea
It was the library’s goal to build a building that would become “the heart of the community” with a design that was contextual and still a product of its time.
