Marlin ISD High School Renovations & Expansion
Marlin ISD selected MRB Group as the A/E team for Professional Design Services for their 2022 Bond Projects, which includes the renovation and expansion of their existing high school. The MRB Group design team collaborated with District staff and the contractor on ideas for the renovations. Because the high school was vacated, getting the students back into the facility was paramount to the District.
The high school campus consists of three (3) buildings—the main school, and two separate buildings that house the Vocational Departments, and Band Hall. The three buildings are connected by a long, covered, fenced-in walkway, which was also a part of the scope. General renovations throughout the three buildings, totaling approximately 130,900 SF overall, including finishes and HVAC, reconfiguration of spaces and classrooms, and the addition of a front vestibule and main entry, were all included in the scope of this proposal. The interior was taken down to the studs during the demo and abatement phase, but only a few select areas of the interior were reconfigured, such as the administration area, student common area, locker rooms, and restrooms.
