Economic and Fiscal Impact Analysis – Amazon Distribution Center
MRB Group was hired to assess the economic and fiscal impacts associated with the proposed development of a 3.5 million square foot state-of-the-art Amazon distribution facility in the Town of Grand Island, NY. The proposed development would include at least $200 million in real estate improvements and $100 million in equipment purchases to develop approximately 145 acres of land.
MRB Group conducted a comprehensive economic and fiscal impact analysis that determined that the project would yield extensive benefits to the local economy and municipal revenues for the local government, school district, and Erie County. Economic impacts were assessed using both direct effects related to the facility’s construction and operations, and we also evaluated the indirect and induced effects on jobs, earnings, and sales that can be anticipated as the direct impacts reverberate through the local economy. Finally, MRB Group calculated the project’s fiscal benefits to local governments, including the Town of Grand Island, certain special districts of the Town, the Grand Island Central School District, and Erie County.
RESULTS
These comprehensive economic and fiscal impact analyses measured the full impact that the development would have on the area’s economy and local government finances, helping the developer inform the community of the benefits of the project.
