Canandaigua North Road Reconstruction and Sidewalks
MRB Group partnered with the Town of Canandaigua to transform the North Road corridor into a safer, more accessible, and pedestrian-friendly roadway. Serving nearly 4,700 vehicles daily, North Road previously lacked sidewalks, creating safety concerns for pedestrians traveling to Canandaigua Academy High School and nearby businesses. The project was designed to improve connectivity, enhance pedestrian safety, and support the Town’s vision for future mixed-use development in the Uptown Canandaigua area.
The comprehensive reconstruction extended from County Road 28 to East Street and included new eight-foot-wide sidewalks, roadway reconstruction, realigned travel lanes, curbing, and significant stormwater infrastructure improvements. A new underdrain and storm sewer system, along with the replacement of a major culvert near Cayuga Road, improved drainage and helped protect water quality within the Canandaigua Lake watershed.
MRB Group provided engineering design, construction management, and construction observation services, working closely with the Town and contractor to deliver the project on budget while minimizing disruptions to residents, businesses, and school traffic. The completed improvements provide a safer, more connected corridor that supports alternative transportation, strengthens community accessibility, and positions the area for continued growth.
