Brighton Volunteer Ambulance
MRB Group was selected by the Brighton Volunteer Ambulance (BVA) to assist with concept site planning services for the expansion of its headquarters, located in a historically significant structure that had outlived its usefulness as an essential facility.
Once the overall project feasibility study was completed, MRB Group was retained to proceed with the site, building design, and construction administration services for the facility’s expansion. The renovation design included a single-story, 3,000 sf administration addition and a 4,100 sf eight-bay garage to accommodate the current ambulance fleet and allow for future growth.
The existing garage bays were renovated into additional support and administrative spaces, while the historical building was modified throughout with new interior finishes, lighting, and a new sprinkler system. In addition to working with the many unique pre-existing challenges of the current site, MRB Group had to coordinate the appropriate approvals from the local Historic Preservation Commission. This required both creating and articulating a cohesive and respectful design to integrate “the old with the new.”
MRB Group worked with the owner’s construction manager from the preliminary conceptual design through the construction administration phase to deliver a facility that will serve the needs of the community far into the future.
