Belton City Hall
The City of Belton selected MRB Group for architectural and engineering services to redesign the interior and exterior of the existing City Hall building in downtown Belton, Texas.
This project included interior renovations to the Planning Department and public spaces, including restrooms, a conference room, and several individual offices. Additionally, the City of Belton was looking for a major facelift on the exterior of the building, not only for aesthetic reasons but also to meet the ADA Accessibility requirements for public buildings.
MRB prepared as-built drawings for the original building, code analysis, and preliminary plans based on multiple projected uses and occupancy classifications. MRB also successfully obtained a Facade Improvement Grant from the City of Belton and began the demolition of the original exterior stone walls. The designers kept the 1970s façade in place to minimize the destruction of this iconic building. Adding a new arbor structure, covered walkway, planters, and ramps to the façade gives the structure a more modern and updated look.
- Accessibility was met throughout the facility.
- New interior finishes were installed throughout the building.
- A new ramp and ADA access were added to both the front (public) entrance and the staff entrance.
- A preliminary building code analysis was performed for the total project.
