Bellmead Elevated Storage Tank and Pump Rehabilitation
TCEQ mandated the City of Bellmead to repair and repaint an existing 1945 vintage elevated storage tank. The City engaged MRB Group to evaluate the existing tank and distribution system to formulate the most “cost-effective” method for addressing the tank’s issues.
MRB recommended that the City elect to construct a new tank at the same location to replace the aging elevated storage facility.
The proposed tank construction included increasing the tank height by approximately 40 feet to combine the City’s two pressure planes into a single pressure plane, allowing for significant flexibility regarding the operation of the water distribution system.
The City of Bellmead council unanimously accepted the recommendations of MRB Group and voted to award a design contract to MRB for the construction of the new elevated storage tank. MRB successfully sited the new tank within a very congested water plant tract to maintain the operation of the existing vintage tank while constructing the new composite elevated storage tank
