Bear Creek Boat Launch

Along a picture-perfect stretch of Lake Ontario shoreline, the Town of Ontario has long maintained a much-used public park and boat launch at Bear Creek Harbor and Memorial Park. However, the scenic spot had begun to show serious signs of deterioration.

After several seasons of historically high lake levels and storm-related wave surges, weather impacts and general decay had taken a toll and resulted in cracked concrete slabs and corroded cable ties.

The Town of Ontario sought to improve this popular community resource and selected MRB Group to redesign the boat launch to accommodate three lanes of vehicular traffic and improve the driving surface. Additional goals included replacing and/or adding concrete retaining walls and installing a new launch dock for recreational motor boats, canoes, and kayaks.

MRB Group also provided administrative support to the municipality, seeking funding for this project through the NYS Consolidated Funding Application (CFA) process. This included providing the schematic design for proposed improvements to both the east and west sides of Bear Creek Park. Construction cost estimates were broken down into phases to maximize utilization of public grants. Funding was successfully secured from FEMA.
