Guthrie Medical Office Building

Guthrie Medical Group will consolidate multiple specialty practices at its Corning Campus, adjacent to the existing hospital. To house these practices, a new two-story 60,000 sf medical office building was constructed. The design was based on current lean principles, with an onstage/off-stage patient/staff interface, electronic check-in for patients, and open collaborative spaces for staff and physicians.

The medical office building is stand-alone with its own entrance but will be linked directly to the existing hospital with a pedestrian passageway. A covered entry protects patients from the elements when arriving and departing from the facility. Exterior materials and interior finishes were selected to complement the existing hospital. Generous open patient pause areas lead to multiple patient care modules. Each module is comprised of a series of exam rooms, a procedure room, and a consult room surrounding an open staff collaboration area. These are all then linked to an open touchdown area where staff can work in a collective fashion.
