MRB Group President Ryan Colvin, PE, and Temple Director Scott Murrah, PE, recently announced the addition of Steven Kirkpatrick, PE, to the firm’s engineering team in Temple.
Kirkpatrick is a civil engineer with extensive expertise in project management, site and infrastructure design, and support for major development. More recently, he focused on projects in the health and medical industry. His diverse experience ranges from site selection processes to project completion, including budgeting, feasibility studies, site and infrastructure design, and construction management.
“Steven’s previous experience with BSP Engineers as an Associate Partner provided us with tremendous confidence about his strengths and ability to support our clients, right from the start,” said Colvin. “His project management expertise will be extremely valuable in helping clients accomplish their due diligence,” Colvin continued. “Most importantly, he will help them keep projects on time, on-track, and on-budget,” Colvin stated.
MRB Group and BSP Engineers joined forces in 2019, and the two teams have integrated to form an expanded, Central Texas-based resource for municipal and utility leaders managing infrastructure projects and systems. In addition to traditional engineering and architecture, MRB Group also provides assistance with strategic planning and municipal operations.
“Steven is part of the next level of growth for MRB Group in the region. He will support the continued expansion of services needed to support dynamic development in Central Texas,” Colvin said.
Kirkpatrick received his Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University, and is Past President of the Central Texas Branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
“Steven’s additional strengths include an understanding and appreciation of the logistical and financial impacts of major projects on day-to-day operations,” Colvin continued. “Projects do not happen in a vacuum – and our project managers know that clients rely on us to become an active participant on their team. We help ensure the rest of their operations can continue seamlessly,” he added.
“I had the privilege of working directly with Steven at BSP,” said Murrah. “Budget officers will appreciate his understanding of design impacts and his ability to reign-incosts,” he stated. “This is one advantage of the MRB Group approach to development support. We help clients review options and their financial implications, so that consideration and decision-making takes place in a fully informed environment.”
“We are excited to have Steven join the MRB Group team and provide this enhanced level of service to our clients,” Colvin concluded.
MRB Group has served communities, utility districts, and institutions for more than 90 years, providing engineering, architecture, and general municipal services. Some local governments have worked with the firm and its engineering and planning teams for over 50 consecutive years.
MRB Group team members currently assist more than 150 communities with day-to-day operations, including long term planning and engineering for maintenance of critical assets like water and wastewater treatment, support for public works services, and architecture for rehabilitation of public facilities. MRB Group’s support for municipal operations includes strategic and capital planning, planning board services, and both community and economic development.
