MRB Group, a Rochester-based Engineering, Architecture and Planning firm, has hired Mark Blask as a Senior Municipal Advisor.  Blask was most recently a successful mayor in the City of Little Falls, a position he held for eight years.  He sits on the Executive Committee of the New York Conference of Mayors.  He is a highly decorated veteran who spent more than 27 years as a Naval Officer.

“Mark has been a highly successful and involved local government leader, who provides a unique perspective on municipal government,” said MRB Group President and CEO Ryan Colvin, PE.  “His extensive experience will support our SmarterLocalGov team and be a tremendous benefit to clients as they look for ways to make their communities stronger.”

“Since 1927, community leaders have leaned on our staff to help them achieve goals and increase their capacity to better support local government operations,” Colvin continued. “Because of our strong familiarity with the communities we serve, we are sometimes the primary source of institutional knowledge that helps new staff and leadership transition and manage operations efficiently.  Mark fits in perfectly with those efforts,” Colvin stated.

“I am excited to be joining such a dedicated and talented group of professionals at MRB Group,” Blask stated.  “In my eight years as Mayor of Little Falls, I had the tremendous opportunity to be involved in all facets of municipal government, from grant writing and planning to economic development – and everything in between.  I understand first-hand the challenges communities face.  I look forward to working with municipal leaders to help them achieve more.”

According to Colvin, Blask will help MRB Group continue the accelerated growth the firm has experienced over the last 12 years.  Most recently, HBT Architects joined MRB Group and broadened the firm’s scope of services even further.  With headquarters in Rochester, MRB Group’s engineers, planners and architects provide support to communities of all sizes.  The firm also has offices in Geneva, Syracuse, and Saratoga Springs, as well as in South Carolina and Texas.

“MRB Group’s growth is directly attributed to our focus on our clients.  Our team of professionals has a well-earned reputation for both expertise and hands-on experience, providing critical information and a wealth of resources to community leaders.  As Mark brings his knowledge to our team, we look forward to helping local governments and their communities succeed,” Colvin concluded.
